The color of your teeth may be revealing a little more than your oral hygiene habits after a new study published in the journal PLoS ONE revealed that teeth color can be used to detect a person's age, health and illness.
The study was conducted by researchers at Leeds University and Central Lancashire University who digitally changed the spacing and colors of the teeth in the pictures of models and showed them to 150 young men and women.
The researchers found that the young men and women were attracted the most to models featuring natural white color compared to startling white or yellow colored teeth. "Both sexes are attracted by each other by white teeth always, it contains clues to decide age, health and illness. White teeth also acts as an indicator for finding out genetic disorders, childhood illness and it provides guide to how far she is from the menopause", lead researcher Colin Hendrie said.
