The Christian Medical College (CMC) joined the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) on Friday.
This was announced at a function chaired by health minister Dr V S Vijay at the hospital premises.
Dr Vijay expressed satisfaction that the hundred-year-old hospital, which had sophisticated treatment facilities, had agreed to be part of the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. The common man could now avail the treatment facilities under the scheme.
It was long expected that CMC would be included in the insurance scheme. The hospital will handle around 600 treatment procedures that include specialty surgeries. There are a total of 1,120 treatments provided by the scheme. Certain surgeries would be restricted only to government hospitals
