Body Language Reveals All

Understanding one’s boss can be done by simply studying his body language.

The poll by networking company LinkMe.com.au found that 79 per cent of workers think body language speaks louder than words, particularly when it comes to understanding the boss's directions or making sense of a discussion at work.

In addition, 87 per cent of the 1568 people surveyed said that they are more often than not correct with their interpretation.

They said that they pick up the warning signs more easily from understanding body language than analysing words, which can often be confusing.

Just 6 per cent of people said they trusted the spoken word for resolving the impressions others have of them.

"Body language is a vital part of everyday communication and having the capability of understanding physical signals can have a significant impact on corporate success,'' News.com.au quoted LinkMe CEO Campbell Sallabank, as saying.

"Well-crafted body language helps people in all areas of their career, particularly in interview situations where first impressions are crucial.

"Emails are misinterpreted so often because the words on screen do not convey the all-important tone, expression or nuance,'' he added.

Sallabank said that successful business people, mostly politicians, spend considerable time and money perfecting the art of body language, to make sure that they put across their intended message.

The survey found 82 per cent of respondents confess they are aware of their body language towards others, believing how they present themselves is key to determining what people think of them and vice versa.
