Biometric Systems For All Government Hospitals In Delhi: Health Minister Satyendar Jain
The Government of Delhi has ordered that the hospitals should ensure their staffs report on time for duty. Officials said health minister Satyendar Jain issued the order on complaints about doctors and other staff reporting late in outpatient departments and other patient areas. //
"Observance of punctuality and discipline has been insisted upon from time to time and compliance of it is the responsibility of the head of institution. All medical superintendents and directors are hereby requested to strictly enforce punctuality of all the staff in the hospital," the notice issued by the government to hospitals states.

Jain said he has been getting complaints from patients visiting hospitals as well as dispensaries about delays due to unavailability of staff. He said, "We are not going to allow this. It has been decided that all hospitals will have biometric attendance systems."

Sometimes these problems are also cited as reasons for delay in emergency services. "Even senior doctors aren’t available in wards or the emergency when needed. They have to be called in case of emergency," said a doctor at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.
