Bihar Government Not to Implement Land Bill

The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar has said that it will not implement the Center’s land acquisition policy in the state.

“We have our land policy, which allows several concessions to farmers if they agree to part with their land. The central bill, on the other hand, is against the interests of farmers,” said Bihar’s Industry Minister Shyam Razak.

Swiss Farmers Irked by Suggestion to Ban Cowbells
A suggestion from a Swiss University that cowbells should be banned in the country has sparked outrage.

“The state government has framed a policy which allows establishment of private industrial areas through special purpose vehicle (SPVs) to facilitate industrial development in Bihar,” said Razak.

Notably, the chief minister had last month observed a day-long fast to oppose the amended land bill, which he termed it ‘black law’.
