Beer is the Latest Fad Amongst US Drinkers

Wine was considered much in vogue recently, but the latest fad amongst US drinkers has taken a back gear towards beer.

The foamy spirit has been declared the top choice in a survey tracking alcohol consumption in the past 15 years, what with a double-digit lead over wine as the drink of choice for the first time since 2002, reports the New York Daily News.

In the early 1990s, almost fifty percent Americans said it was their favourite alcoholic drink, and it is now that it has taken a backward shift.

The Gallup poll showed that the most drastic change in drinking habits is seen among Americans aged between 30 to 49 years.

When asked what they drink most often, 42 percent of respondents chose beer, 31 percent said wine, 23 percent preferred liquor and 4 percent said they drank equal amounts of each.

In the previous year, the gap between wine and beer was significantly smaller, with 40 percent opting for a pint, compared with 34 percent choosing wine.
