Bankers Healthcare Encourages Employees to Stay Fit Through “Walk to Stop Diabetes”
According to American Diabetes Association (ADA), 1 in 3 American adults will have diabetes by 2050. Therefore to raise awareness, Bankers Healthcare Group (BHG) has launched a company-wide diabetes awareness campaign that will run through November. It is the leading provider of financial solutions for healthcare professionals.
November is marked as the American Diabetes Month and the World Diabetes Day is observed on the 14th of November. BHG will participate in a local Step Out: Walk To Stop Diabetes® benefiting the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and its mission to prevent diabetes. The mission is to find a cure and improve the lives of those affected by the disease.

Nearly 30 million people have diabetes in America. The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) reported that 387 million people are living with diabetes worldwide (8.3 percent prevalence). The disease caused 4.9 million deaths in 2014, and every 7 seconds it claims another life.

The IDF represents over 230 national diabetes associations, including the ADA, in 170 countries and territories. In 1991, IDF and the World Health Organization created World Diabetes Day (WDD), a year-round campaign observed November 14, to unite the global diabetes community, increase awareness and support advocacy on a global scale.

Regular exercise and a healthy diet can help in prevention and management of diabetes. Therefore BHG encourages its employees to take advantage of their workout breaks. The company will donate $5 to the IDF for each individual who uses the onsite gym or participates in a group fitness class on November 13.
