Doctors at the Malar hospital, a subsidiary of Fortis health care, in Chennai, have saved the life of a baby born with a rare congenital heart defect by using the anti-impotence drug Viagra. The 4-month-old baby girl named Tanisha, had very high blood pressure in the right lung, which was controlled using the blue pill.
"She had cyanotica congenital heart defect, which affects only one in a lakh. Her heart was on the right side with a hole in it coupled with an ineffective and underdeveloped right lung," cardiac surgeon K R Balakrishnan said.
