Arnie Wants to Team Up With Blair to Fight Global Warming

by VR Sreeraman on Jun 15 2007 3:08 PM

Actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger will call on British Prime Minister Tony Blair in the next fortnight to discuss climate change.

The California Governor wanted to work with the Prime Minister on a new campaign against global warming, said a source close to Blair.

Schwarzenegger would discuss a programme of globetrotting lectures and speeches for when Mr Blair retires on June 27, adds the source.

The ‘Terminator’ star is also likely to meet Gordon Brown during the visit.

"It's about finding radical ways to cut CO2 emissions and he is very keen to see Mr Blair before he goes," the source was quoted as saying by the Mirror.

Schwarzenegger and Blair had concluded a deal to promote research into cleaner fuel in Los Angeles last year.

The ex-movie star had also hailed Blair’s efforts to bring in a climate change bill three months ago, calling the prime minister an "action hero".

Schwarzenegger, known as the "emissions terminator" for his green policies, wants a 25 per cent cut in emissions by 2020.

He had introduced a global warming solutions act in California last September.
