American Internet Users Bothered By Govt. Intrusion in Online Activities
A new study conducted on the impact of the Internet on Americans has shown that 38 pc of the users aged 16 and above are concerned about the government checking their online activities.
This is in contrast to the earlier figure of nearly 48 pc of Internet users, in the same age group getting bothered by intrusion in their personal lives.

"Many of us are worried that the Big Brother in our lives is actually Big Business," said Jeffrey I. Cole, director of the Center for the Digital Future at USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

"Internet users have major concerns about corporate intrusion and who can blame them?" Cole added.

"Considering the recent revelations about covert surveillance of personal behaviour through GPS tracking and other related issues, we believe that user concerns about the involvement-some would say encroachment-of companies into the lives of Internet users represent a significant issue."

The survey revealed that 33 pc Internet users found it safe to on voice their views about politics while online. However, 36 pc do not think it is safe to say whatever one thinks about politics online.
