Amazon Accused of Making Big Profits by Selling E-books on Terror and Violence

Amazon, the online books giant is having to give some answers after facing flak over making big bucks selling offensive e-books on topics ranging from bomb-making to growing drugs.

According to The Daily Mail, Amazon sells a vast number of e-books, which are downloaded by readers from its website, for as little as a pound.

A study has found that exposure to television coverage of terrorism causes women to lose psychological resources much more than men.

It allows anyone to upload an e-book for sale, without safeguards against content that would be refused by traditional publishers.

Some of the e-books on the website include anti-Semitic prose and instructions on growing marijuana.

One e-book, Prophet Muhammad: Monster of History, includes images of a Koran being burned and a woman being hanged.

Bioterrorism Fears Over E.African Labs Voiced by US Senator
A US senator has said that poorly secured medical laboratories in East Africa are posing new worries over possible bio-terrorism in a region hosting an Al Qaeda-linked insurgent group.

The author, Jake Neuman, said: "The writings contained in this book are now illegal in most Western countries."

But users can access his work at a click of a mouse.

Olympic Terrorism Threats Being Assessed
A suggestion that that the 2012 Olympic Games to be held in London in July and August represent a potential terrorist threat was made by the Head of Department of Asymmetric Threats.

The Muslim Council of Britain has now called for Amazon to 'take proper responsibility' for the content of the books on its site.

They added: "Freedom of expression should not be unlimited, and publications that cause anti-Muslim hatred, anti-Jewish hatred or homophobic hatred should not be allowed."
