A new research has found that women are grossly under-represented in Hollywood with 70 percent of major speaking roles go to men. It also shows that Hollywood still remains male-dominated even in the 21st century.
The study, conducted at the University of Southern California, found that 70 per cent of the major speaking roles in the top-earning 100 films of 2009 were of men.
According to the Los Angeles Times, communication students examined the top films and their 4,342 speaking roles and discovered that only 32.8 per cent were female, Contactmusic reported.
The study also found that women were far more likely to wear provocative clothing in films than male actors and only 3.6 per cent of the top directors were women.
