A woman in Uttarakhand is all set to sell her 6-month-old baby to meet the hospital expenses of her husband. Poonam's husband Pavan is being treated in 'Shree Mahant Indresh hospital' in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Poonam has already sold off her belongings to meet the expenses so far.

But for further operations she needs to pay more money to the hospital.

"I have already sold off everything I had, my jewellery every thing. But I still need to pay more money. Hospital cost has already exceeded the amount of Rs. 2 lakhs. I have to pay around Rs. 50, 000 and for that I have nothing but my child. I have to sell my child," said Poonam.

Doctor Sadhu, a surgeon at the Hospital said that Pavan's limb operation is critical and therefore the cost of the treatment is bound to be high.

"He met with an accident due to which we had to operate both his legs. To save his limbs we have to perform further operations and as it a critical the operation would be done in two or three rounds and the cost can go unto Rs. 1 lakh or 2.5 lakhs. The patient belongs to a very poor family," said Doctor Sadhu.

Poonam is a resident of Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh.
