Woman in Critical Condition as Acid Used Instead of Antiseptic After Delivery
The quality of healthcare in West Bengal has once again come into spotlight after it was reported that a woman who gave birth to a baby boy is in critical condition after she was washed by acid rather than antiseptic.
The incident took place at a hospital in Murshidabad district on Monday. Acid was used instead of antiseptic to wash the private parts of Sikha Bibi, 32, soon after delivery.

Sikha Bibi had delivered a baby body who died soon after though it is reported that the baby’s death had nothing to do with the incident.

Confirming that the incident had taken place, acting chief medical officer of health (CMOH) Birendra Prasad Shaw said that the Murshidabad district health department will be ordering an inquiry into the incident.
