Amy Winehouse has made it known that she was "horrified" after seeing a "pale and skinny" picture of herself in a newspaper, and subsequently decided to lay off drugs once and for all.
The 'Rehab' hitmaker saw herself in ripped denim shorts, string vest and black T-shirt, bearing a pained expression with cuts all over her legs in the snap.
The 'Back to Black' singer revealed that it was then that she vowed to make a fresh start for 2009, and give up her unhealthy habits like drug and alcohol addiction.
The pop star, whose jailbird hubby Blake Fielder-Civil is seeking divorce on grounds of adultery, further said that she no longer felt drawn to drugs ever since she had been on her Caribbean holiday.
"I've finally escaped from hell. Before I came out here I looked at a photo of myself in the paper and was horrified," the Telegraph quoted her as telling Look magazine.
"My skin was a spotty mess and I was so pale and skinny. I thought 'Girl, you've got to sort yourself out or you'll be dead soon'.
"I was depressed, doing drugs and had no life in me at all. Coming here has changed everything. I don't need drugs," she added.
