 West Bengal Govt Sanctions Rs 37 Crore for Bird Flu Fight
West Bengal Minister for Animal Resources Development Anisur Rahman has revealed that almost 42 lakh ducks were culled in the state after the outbreak of bird flu in the state early this year.

"While 5 lakh families bore the financial loss due to the disease, the total loss stood at Rs 350 crore," the minister said, adding that the state government spent Rs 47 crore, while the Centre gave Rs 24 crore. to combat the disease.

In order to take preventive measures and ensure stock of vaccines, the government aims to spend a further 37 crore, he added.
