Ways to Increase Effectiveness of Flu Vaccines
A new study conducted by researchers at the University of Birmingham suggests that flu vaccinations could be made more effective by varying the time of their administration.
According to the study, giving the vaccines in morning to men and during the afternoon to women could increase the effectiveness of the jabs. The researchers said that this will help health experts to synchronize the vaccination with the body's natural daily cyclical rhythm and thus provide better immunity.

Lead researcher Dr Anna Phillips said that administering the vaccines when the antibody response is the strongest could lead to a better protection against flu. “The reason behind this is likely to be due to an interaction between the hormones and immune system messengers that fluctuate throughout the day, and sex hormones. We are now testing several potential candidates to try to understand this effect better. If this works, it would be such an easy intervention to improve protection against infection in older adults”, she said.
