 Walking and Eating Healthy Diet may Delay Death
Older individuals may be able to postpone death by taking a 30-minute brisk walk everyday, eating healthy foods and kicking the butt.

That's the conclusion of a new research, which has provided few tips for cheating death - at least for a while.

The new study from Harvard School of Public Health has shown that an individual can really avoid death, at least for a little while, through a combination of positive lifestyle changes, reports Live Science.

The research, which is a part of the ongoing Nurse's Health Study, has followed the lives of over 120,000 nurses over the period of 32 years.

The Harvard team studied 9,000 deaths over the last 25 years and found that 55 percent of those deaths could have been avoided had those participants engaged in regular physical activity, avoided smoking and becoming overweight, and ate a healthy diet.

They suggested that about 44 percent of cancer deaths and 72 percent of cardiovascular deaths could have been avoided.

Even the modest lifestyle changes, such as 30 minutes per day of brisk walking, could significantly reduced risk of premature death and preserve high quality of healthy living.

The study is published in the British Medical Journal.
