Three-year-old Girl Slapped by Stepfather Dies

The police said Usman was fully drunk when he slapped his stepdaughter Sania in a fit of fury.
The brutal blow not only sent the child reeling but also led to a blood clot. The hapless child died shortly thereafter, The Hindu reports. Usman is since absconding.
The police said that Sanias mother Shabana had separated from her first husband Mohammed Peer about two years ago and married Usman. She subsequently moved in with the three children she had borne to her previous husband.
But apparently there were serious problems. Neighbours reported of constant quarrels. And more often than not it was the tiny tot that had to bear the brunt of it all.
Once Usman had even poured boiling rice gruel on her. She suffered burn injuries and had to be treated at the local hospital.

That is so sad and it even worse to know that it could have been prevented if the stepfather hadn't been drunk in the first place.
