Tennis Ace Martina Navratilova Has Breast Cancer
Tireless tennis ace and legend of the Wimbledon lore Martina Navratilova has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The Czechoslovakian-born Martina, who now resides in Florida, confirmed that the news is true.

The 53-year-old confessed that she was devastated when she first heard the news in February this year.

Calling the cancer her 9/11, Navratilova asked women not to miss their mammograms. "The sooner you catch it, the better," she told People magazine. "So get the bloody mammogram. I went four years between mammograms. I let it slide. Everyone gets busy, but don't make excuses . . . Another year and I could have been in big trouble."

Navratilova is confident of making a full recovery and said she is due to begin radiation therapy in May.
