A new study has revealed that one in ten Internet users browses the web without sufficient safety thereby putting their personal information at risk.
The survey, conducted by anti-virus software provider AVG, also found that 718 million pounds worth of downloaded music is at risk because people storing their music online have not used adequate security cover.
Moreover, it was seen that men are less likely to use computer security software than women.
However, 95 per cent of Internet users over the age of 50 install anti-virus software.
"It's astonishing how much we store on our personal computers today, and how open we can leave ourselves to cyber criminals and the loss of content with financial and emotional implications," the Scotsman quoted AVG managing director Mike Foreman, as saying.
