It is very important that parents be informed about the type of video games their children play with.  The nature of the child, context and type of video game is important in determining whether the child gets influenced by the game or not.

The key aspect is the nature of relationship between parents and children.    If the relationship is good, then children may not turn violent by just playing violent video games. On the same breath, when there is not much respect for the parents and the relationship between parent and child is not so good, playing violent video games for a long period can prove disastrous.
