The report says that the Taluk hospital in Cherthala conducted 21 cesarean deliveries on April 18 and 19th. . Even women with due dates a week later were forced to undergo deliveries earlier before the commencement of the Easter break.

Further investigation into these allegations is needed to ascertain if the increase in number of deliveries is linked to the Easter break.

A suo moto case has been registered and a report on this matter will have to be sent to State Human Rights Commission.

Doctors could have planned these deliveries in advance so that there would be no deliveries on their Easter breaks. The doctors would rather spend time with their families or whoever on their vacation than be on the hospital delivering a baby.
