Uma Khurana the school teacher falsely implicated under charges of running a sex racket, by a fake sting operation has stung back at the TV channel which framed her.

A staged TV sting operation by Live India channel showed her as running a sex racket. This Monday, Uma Khurana filed a defamation case against the channel and its CEO.

Filing the complaint in the court of the Metropolitan Magistrate, Khurana through her counsel Amit Kumar, alleged that Sudhir Chaudhury, the CEO of the channel 'Live India', was fully aware that the telecast of the fake sting operation would tarnish her name.

The sting operation was aired on August 30. It resulted in widespread violence in the Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya area in Darya Ganj, central Delhi, where Khurana used to teach.

On the basis of the FIR as well as media coverage, the Delhi government had initially suspended and then terminated Khurana from service.

In her petition, Khurana alleged that she had been subjected to mental agony, stress, harassment and humiliation and had earned a bad name in the eyes of the public and society.

The incident behind the sting operation that ended in a fiasco, was monetary disputes between Khurana and businessman Virender Arora.

As per the charge sheet, despite several demands Khurana did not return money to him. Arora then met with Prakash Singh, a Live India channel journalist and hatched a criminal conspiracy to implicate Khurana by carrying out a fake sting operation.

The charge sheet launched against her in the wake of the sting operation read: “Despite being a schoolteacher she knowingly and willingly handed over Rashmi (another journalist) to Prakash believing that she was allegedly a prostitute and he an exporter. Khurana seems to have committed an offence under section 5 of Immoral Trafficking and Prevention (ITP) Act”.
