Congress President Sonia Gandhi was discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where she was admitted on late December 31 night after she complained of breathing problems.

She was diagnosed with chest infection and remained hospitalised for the last five days.

"Sonia Gandhi was discharged early today after she fully recovered from her illness. She is stable, and has been advised to continue rest," said B K Rao, Chairman of Board of Management of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

Sonia, 61, was given antibiotics and bronchodilator medicines by a three-member team of doctors.
