Sonia Gandhi: Govt is in Process of Setting Up Several Institutes Like AIIMS
Government is in the process of setting up several institutes like All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to ensure better health services, says Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Addressing the 39th AIIMS Annual Convocation here, Gandhi said: "Government is in the process of setting up several similar institutions around the country. Of course, institutions are only as good as the people, who built and run them. The faculty, doctors and staffs at AIIMS are second to none, working hard in the service of society."

"It is not surprise therefore that around 8000 patients are treated here everyday. It is effectively the one medical institution in the country, which best combines excellent medical education with cutting edge research and quality health care," she added.

Gandhi further said that the nation is proud of the AIIMS for its quality medical services.

"All India Institute of Medical Sciences is an institution of which the nation is proud of. We are proud of this institution because of its achievements in research and education. We are proud of this institution because of its services to the poorest in our country and we are proud on it because it keeps its doors open to all sections of society," she said.

Sonia Gandhi, who was the chief guest on the occasion, awarded degrees to 465 students.

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad presided over the function.
