A man who was put for adoption when he was just three-days-old has found his biological family after 33 years, thanks to popular social networking website Facebook.

Richard Marks had been living with his adopted parents, unaware of the fact that his real family resided just two miles away.

The 33-year-old, who knew about his adoption, had begun his hunt for his birth mum at 18.

He contacted Bury Social Services and found that his sister Andrea Roczniak had left him two letters hoping they could make contact but had since shifted.

Marks, after 15 years of unyielding search, decided to turn to Facebook and sent messages to dozens of Roczniaks in the local area before Andrea replied saying "I think you're my brother."

"I couldn't believe it when I realised I had found them," the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

"I called Andrea and she started telling me how she had been looking for me for 12 years and how I had a massive family waiting to meet me. After all these years it felt completely natural to speak to her.

"After that I called my mum. I could hear a faint voice blubbering so I said 'hello mum' and that was it we were talking and crying for the next two and a half hours.
