People who enjoy night outs are more prone to picking up the smoking habit compared to early risers, a new study published in the journal Addiction reveals.
Researchers from University of Helsinki in Finland observed more than 23,000 twins over a period of 30 years and found that people who enjoy going out in the evenings find it tougher to kick the butt since they frequent bars and restaurants where smoking is common.
AdvertisementLead researcher Dr Ulla Broms revealed that one of the main reasons for majority of smokers staying late at night was due to nicotine in cigarettes which keeps smokers up at night.
"We primarily believe that it is more likely that evening persons are more prone to initiate smoking and have greater difficulty quitting smoking", Dr Broms said.
