The 45-year-old Hench admitted to eight counts of pinching and scratching babies to the point of bleeding. The incidents took place in 2009 and involved babies whose ages ranged from 3 to 19 months. The Del Mar real estate agent will probably spend one year in prison and face 4 years of probation on release.

Kelly Frederick, who spoke during the sentencing, said that Hench was massaging the ears of her son Charlie, who was 17 months old at that time. It was only when she heard her son scream that she found Hench had pinched his ears so much that they were red all over.

Hench is the mother of two boys and a girl. Parents who were present at the sentencing said they were happy with the outcome and hoped Hench would receive proper help.
