27-year-old school teacher Melinda Bodnar was apparently sacked by email six months after her bowel cancer diagnosis.

"There was no meeting or sympathy. It was devastating. I finished chemo in July and was too unwell to issue proceedings before now. I was trying to stay alive. I loved my job," she said, adding that doctors gave her just 30% survival chances.

To add insult to injury, Melinda's sick pay was also stopped and she struggled to put money into chemo and surgery.

Oaktree Nursery's owner Annabel Dixon apparently sent an email, which read, "Have you managed to have some counselling or found people with similar problems? I am sure it would help. You will see you haven't been paid for this month - you have been on full pay up until now but I am afraid I can't manage that any longer as I am sure you understand."

Melinda has filed a suit against the school seeking Ģ25,000 in compensation.
