Risk of Malaria Infection Looms Large for Over 70 Percent Indians

More than 70 percent of India's population is at an increased risk of malaria, a recent report reveals.

There were more than 100 million suspected malaria cases last year, although only 1.59 million were confirmed to be infected by the disease, revealed The World Malaria report 2011.

Even though there is an improvement in the malaria mortality rates by more than 25% globally, nearly 86% of the victims are children below the age of five.

Drug resistance also appears to be a major challenge, as much as paucity of funds is, to fight the disease globally.
