A recent report by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare on Asthma in Australia 2011 - has found a marked drop in asthma cases in the past 10 years.
The most significant drop occurred in people between the ages of 10 and 14. There was not much change in asthma rates in people above the age of 35.
Research also showed that people hailing from poorer backgrounds were at a higher risk of suffering from asthma.
This scenario calls for more effort in asthma management with focus on preventative measures.
