An American study has found that working out regularly can not only help you remain fit but also has a positive effect on your income.
Researchers from Cleveland State University in Ohio conducted a survey of more than 12,000 people in the United States and found that swimming, jogging or hitting the gym three times a week can increase your income by as much as 9 percent.
The researchers said that regular exercise was viewed favorably by employers who believe that those employees were more determined and dedicated. The physical and psychological benefits gained by regular exercises also helped people to work harder.
"In addition to the positive impacts on heart health, weight and other medical issues, studies show that exercise leads to improved mental function, psychological condition and higher energy levels. All three of these traits can translate into higher earnings", lead researcher Dr Vasilios Kosteas said.
