During the beginning of the 20th century, an American engineer named John Elfreth had predicted certain aspects about how people would lead their life.
He had clearly predicted the use of mobile phones as well as about the 'tall gene' which would give most people a good height. Though, he was pretty close to reality right in these predictions, a certain prediction was woefully off the mark. According to him, everybody would take to walking and the young and the old would walk close to 10 miles (16 kilometers) each day.

What is worse is that children of today do not indulge in the required amount of physical activity. Gone are the days when children would walk to school. It was doubly beneficial as children relaxed as well as indulged in physical exercise as they walked to their school. Little wonder, that most children today are battling the bulge as compared to the lean and healthy ones in the bygone era.
