The polyclinic plan touted by the Scottish government is
facing stiff resistance from the GPs. The latter fear that their individual
practices will be lost when they will be pooled together akin to super

Lord Darzi, the Health Minister was the one to moot the
polyclinic plan in 2007. At that time it was hailed as the next best thing to
happen to the NHS. However GPs participating in the Scottish local medical
committees (LMCs) conference have asked the minister to resign.
Darzi should be
ashamed "for becoming Gordon Brown's puppet", Dr John Ip, of Greater Glasgow
and Clyde LMC, told the conference.
