Plan for Sex Education to US Kindergartners Sharply Criticized
A proposal by the Helena Public School system to impart sex education to kindergartners has been sharply criticized.
According to the draft proposal obtained, fifth graders should "understand that sexual intercourse includes but is not limited to vaginal, oral, or anal penetration".The draft includes teaching first graders that people can be attracted to the same gender, and second grade students are instructed to avoid gay slurs.
And by the time students turn 10 years old they are taught about various types of intercourse.
Jeff Laszloffy, of the Montana Family Foundation, is among those outraged that educators want to teach sex education to kindergarteners.
"It's absolutely insane. This is not education. This has crossed the line and has gone from education to indoctrination and that's the problem parents have," Fox News quoted him as saying.
"This is not the reason we send our kids to school - to be indoctrinated on different sex positions.
"These types of conversations should be had between parents and their children at the appropriate time and we don't think it's the state's job to determine when that time is," he said.
School superintendent Bruce Messinger said that parents have fair questions about the content of the plan, and that educators are looking at the age-appropriateness of the material before the decision is taken in August.

Sex education should be taught at home. But sadly it seldom is. If the goal of parents for their children is to have healthy, psychologically well adjusted, children then sex education is very important. Parents are failing that goal. So if not taught at home, where should it be taught? The next stage should be the churches. Again there is a sad failure there! Most conservative churches have difficulty even saying "S E X" let alone giving proper instruction.
The next, and perhaps final, stage of proper instruction are the schools. If not done there, then where? The answer is the street! No one can argue that the street has much factual information.
So what will it be: healthy, well adjusted children or yet another generation of screwed up people?
