Paul Gascoigne, Former Football Star, Has Been Charged With Drunk-driving

Paul Gascoigne, Former England football star, has been charged with drunk-driving when he went fishing and was arrested twice in 48 hours.

He had allegedly wrecked a hotel room during the trip away with a pal last month.His friend, Michael Harvey, was accused of drink driving, driving while disqualified, having no insurance and being in charge of a vehicle while over the limit.

They will appear before magistrates in Northallerton, North Yorks, on April 16, The Sun reports.

Harvey said yesterday: "Obviously I'm denying it. I need to speak to Paul to find out what he thinks about it."

Gascoigne has battled alcoholism for years but Harvey said: "Paul's fine. He is doing all right and not drinking at the minute."
