Japanese electronics giant Panasonic has unveiled a robotic hair washer that could soon replace humans in salons.
The robotic hair washer has a structure similar to a regular salon chair but comes with 24 robotic fingers that provide a gentle touch similar to that of a human hand to care for the hair of the elderly and the infirm.
AdvertisementPanasonic revealed that the customer has to recline back in the chair and the robot then shampoos, massages the scalp and rinses in about three minutes while conditioning and a blow-dry will take an additional five minutes.
"Using robotic hand technology and 24 robotic fingers, this robot can wash the hair or handicapped in the way human hands do in order to help them have better daily lives", the chair's developer, Tohru Nakamura said.
