The Drug Action Week in Australia this year will also focus on alcohol abuse. Till date illicit drugs had been the main focus, but now authorities have decided to include alcohol abuse as well.
"The theme for the Drug Action Week right across Australia this year is alcohol is a drug too," said Sophie Bourcher from South East Regional Community Health. "Young people don't have a full understanding of how harmful alcohol can be."Police officials are also a part of the initiative and said it was important for people to be aware that excess drinking was harming the community fabric as well.
