Belfast Health Trust has reported that an outbreak of infection is behind the death of two babies at the Royal Maternity Hospital in Belfast.
According to a hospital representative's account, the deaths are associated to an outbreak of pseudomonas, caused by a bacteria found in plants, water, soil and in animals.
AdvertisementHealth Minister Edwin Poots, said, "This is a serious incident. The priority now is to identify the source of the infection and minimize the risk of spread to other extremely vulnerable babies in the unit."
