Orissa Woman Gave Birth to Identical Triplets
A 24-year-old woman in Orissa Saturday delivered identical triplets, a rarity that occurs once in approximately one million births, a doctor said.

Rajalakhi Das gave birth to three girls in Kendrapada town, about 100 km from Bhubaneswar.

The babies were born without any medical complications two weeks prior to the full term of the pregnancy, hospital paediatrician Nakul Sahoo told IANS.

He said the children weighed 1 to 1.5 kilograms each, less than the normal weight of newborns.

But Sahoo warned that the mother carries the risk of losing all the three babies due to various complications. The babies also ran the risk of being affected by diabetes, blood pressure, respiratory distress syndrome and jaundice.
