No Health Tick on McDonald’s Burgers, Salads

The healthy food tick, a mark of endorsement from The Heart foundation on McDonald’s burgers, salads and other popular items on the menu in Australia may soon be a thing of the past after the heart foundation confirmed its decision to do away with the tick.

As confirmed by the foundation, this move is not to be interpreted in a negative light. Instead, the healthy food program intends to focus on the health aspect in the ingredients delivered to restaurants and other food outlets.

Research has indicated that fast food chains are slowly moving towards offering healthier food for consumers.

The heart foundation also intends to conduct random tests on restaurant and takeaway food items as a way to assist consumers in assessing the level of saturated fat and salts in the food.
