 Newborn's Finger Chopped Off by Nurse
A newborn's finger was cut off at Institute of Child Health,Park Circus In Kolkata by a nurse, who admitted to accidentally chopping of the finger while trying to remove a drip channel from the infant's hand.

Babu Ghosal and Paromita, the parents of the child, said that their offspring developed breathing problems soon after birth on February 21. And following instructions from their family doctor, they admitted the baby to the institute.

Dr Maya Mukherjee,head of the institute's pediatrics department said the nurse in question had admitted to the incident and had also apologized, "But we will issue a showcause notice and she will be placed under suspension.A committee will look into the matter," she added.
