Brit workers will no longer be able to sue their bosses if they are injured because of their own mistakes.
A government-commissioned study, led by Professor Ragnar Lofstedt of King's College London, calls for a 'rebalancing' of safety laws and a dramatic reduction in the number of rules in the workplace, the Daily Mail reported.
Worker accidents cost businesses almost 8 billion pounds a year in compensation, according to an estimate by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
Ministers and business chiefs believe that the current safety rules are being used to justify many legal cases and are a financial burden on companies.
Some employees are exploiting the law to sue their bosses for incidents they caused through their own carelessness.
The reforms on personal responsibility were backed by the British Safety Council, but rejected by Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents as they believe that the current safety rules still work.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Professor Lofstedt is expected to call for the amalgamation of many work regulations in his report because he claims that many regulations are duplicated and make doing business unnecessary complicated.
