NSW Health has warned that dust particles can harm even healthy individuals and has asked them to seek immediate medical attention if they feel their health is deteriorating.

"This is particularly important for people with existing respiratory ailments such as asthma and other breathing difficulties," the warning on the NSW Health website revealed.

People have been asked to cut down on outdoor and physical activities during dust storms as fine dust particles can irritate the lungs of even healthy adults.

Windows must be kept closed and affected people must be monitored closely. Furthermore asthma patients must follow Asthma Action plan and take their medications on time.
