Mr India, Tale of HIV Positive Bodybuilder

An inspirational tale of a HIV positive body builder who went on to win a medal in the Mr India competition is struggling to find distributors and theatre owners willing to show the film in spite of winning more than a dozen national and international awards. The film is a story of life of Khundrakpam Pradip Kumar Singh after he discovered that he was infected with HIV virus in 2000. Pradip joined a gym despite doctors’ warnings and won the Mr Manipur title in 2007.

Mr India, which has won more than 12 awards across the globe and also screened at the Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will now be directly available on DVDs even though filmmaker Haobam Pabankumar tried hard to convince theatre owners to run the documentary.
