Sales of Crabbie's ginger beer, which has four per cent alcohol and costs 1.99 pounds for a 500ml bottle, have shot up since its launch in February.

Frank's ginger beer, also four per cent alcohol, costs 1.79 pounds for a 500ml bottle.

A similar strength beer - Spitfire 500ml ale brewed by Shepherd Neame is 1.65 pounds a bottle.
