Officials were forced to close the Avalon beach for the second time after more medical waste washed ashore. The first closure had occurred between Ninth and 24th streets during the weekend after medical waste had washed ashore.

However it was reopened Saturday after the clean up operations concluded. But waste like intravenous-bag needles and cotton swabs were once again found, which forced closure of the beach around 4 pm in the evening.

Environmental Crimes Bureau of the state Attorney General's Office is investigating the incident and hope to trace the source of the waste.
