Italian lyric tenor Luciano Pavarotti has been admitted in the hospital, a hospital spokesman has confirmed.
Reports said that the 71-year-old developed pneumonia while he was holidaying with his family at a resort on the Adriatic seaside.
However, the hospital spokesman, Alberto Greco, refused to give details on the treatment.
Though reports suggest that Pavarotti was admitted in the hospital on August 7, the spokesperson said that he entered the facility a day later.
"He is currently under observation and his condition is satisfactory," the BBC quoted Gabriele Sorrentino, as saying.
In 2006, Pavarotti cancelled several gigs after he underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer.
Last month, reports stated that the opera legend, is sure that he is going to die soon.
However, Pavarotti clarified that the reports were highly exaggerated.
