To keep track of the healing process of joints after an injury, researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA have devised a method which uses sensors to measure the progress.

Currently available only for knee joints, the system involves sensors which are placed around the injured knee, to evaluate the range of motion of the joint.The results show if the joint is healing or not.
